About Birrigai Outdoor School

Birrigai Outdoor School is a residential and day program school, set on 170 hectares of nature park in the magnificent foothills of the Brindabellas, approx 40 minutes from the centre of Canberra.

Each year, thousands of government and non-government school students from preschool to year 12 participate in Birrigai’s programs that support schools to deliver Australian Curriculum content. It is a significant site for the Ngunnawal Peoples. Students have the opportunity to engage in rich learning of local aboriginal culture and historical connections dating back over 25,000 years. Experiential learning opportunities provided for school groups also include curricula linked to a broad range of environmental programs, including biodiversity studies and wetland investigations.  Sustainability, HASS/STEM programs and personal challenge and leadership through high ropes courses and team building activities are also offered.

A school with a difference, Birrigai is a unique and stunning place of immersive and deep learning.
