About Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School

Yes … I know you’ve heard of ‘Kalgoorlie Cops’ and yes … that is the same Kalgoorlie where Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School is located and no … the school community does not only consist of cashed-up miners ready for a punch-up but proudly supports a culturally and socio-economically diverse population.

Located 600 kilometers east of Perth on the outskirts of the outback you will find the twin cities of Kalgoorlie and Boulder.  Famous for gold mining, Kalgoorlie-Boulder boasts the largest open pit mine in the southern hemisphere, which is even visible from the moon!  As a result of the lack of water during the gold rush days of 1800’s, an ingenious engineering feat by CY O’ Connor allowed water to be pumped 600 kilometers from Perth.  The Golden Pipeline is still in operation today and supplies the 30 000 plus inhabitants of Kalgoorlie-Boulder with water.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School caters for Years 7-10 with a cohort of approximately 1000 students.

These values are the cornerstone of the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School Culture.

  1. 1. Build positive and productive relationships with staff, students and community.
  2. 2. Be predictably conscientious in how we go about our business.
  3. 3. Be strong in our convictions about how we teach and manage students.
  4. 4. Improve student academic and social performance.
  5. 5. Be responsible for the school's reputation.
  6. 6. Continuously improve.

In addition to the main learning areas, the school offers a diverse range of subjects. Programs catering for students with a variety of interests and needs such as the Goldfield’s Football Academy, the Kalgoorlie Girls Academy and the Academic Accelerated Program have been implemented. In 2015, the Year 7 cohort was included at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School. A science extension program has been introduced to ensure that the needs of the inaugural Year 7 academically advanced students have been met. Another specialist program based at the high school is the Primary Extension and Community program, which caters for all the Year 5 and 6 gifted and talented students of the Goldfields region. Kalgoorlie Boulder Community High School is committed to working collaboratively with the school community to create an inclusive and innovative environment that motivates and engages students to reach their full potential. The school’s learning program ensures that students develop values and social capabilities to become active and responsible members of society.
